Everything you need to know about Puncture Repair

0800 840 4040

When it comes to your car, there’s nothing more infuriating than experiencing a puncture, especially as it seems to occur at the most inconvenient time. With almost 39 million cars on the UK road, that means almost 156 million tyres could potentially succumb to a puncture at some point or other.

If your tyre is new or in a reasonable condition, it’s understandable that you’d want to try and repair it over replacing it which is why we’ve recently started providing a puncture repair service both at our repair centre in Stockport but also as a mobile service, meaning we can come to you and repair your puncture.

Before booking your puncture repair, there are some simple questions you can answer to know if puncture repair is right for you.

Is the puncture within the central three-quarters of the tyre?
If yes, then we can help! If a puncture occurs outside this area, near to the tyre’s sidewall, it cannot generally be repaired.

Has it been previously repaired?
If your tyre has had a previous puncture repair, we won’t, unfortunately, repair it as we would recommend a replacement. As the number of punctures goes up, the risk of a tyre bursting or getting a puncture also goes up.

Is the tyre’s tread depth over the legal minimum of 1.6mm?
If yes, there’ll be no problem in repairing your puncture.

If your tyre tread depth falls below the legal limit, not only is it against the law to drive the vehicle, it’s also a major safety risk. Besides the braking distance of your vehicle increasing, it massively increases the risk of a blowout.

Is there further damage to the tyre and the rubber, for example, it’s aged or deteriorated?
Depending on the level of damage to the tyre, we may advise that a replacement is a safer option than repair.

Most tyre punctures can be easily repaired however in some instances, a replacement tyre may be needed. We can supply and fit a new tyre if you would like us to and can quote for this at time of booking.

How much does it cost?
If your puncture adheres to the necessary above points, we can repair it with our mobile service for £39.99. *We’re also currently offering a 10% off all services for two or more wheels (offer expires 30/06/20)

How long does a puncture repair last?
After a puncture repair service is carried out, the tyre itself should last its original lifetime or the remainder of its recommended mileage.

Is puncture repair suitable for run-flat tyres?
Unfortunately, we are unable to repair run-flat tyres.
