Corroded Alloy Wheel Repair

0800 840 4040

Wear and tear is one thing we can’t do a lot about in life, and this extends to your alloy wheels, unfortunately. The truth is that even the most careful of car owners will most likely run into alloy corrosion issues at some point.

What’s a corroded alloy?

When you drive your car, you’ll naturally put your alloys under a lot of stress. Firstly, the vehicle has to actually carry the people inside it, all whilst the alloy constantly revolves. Then there’s the sun, rain, mud and snow of the beautiful British climate to deal with of course. Corrosion is inevitable, but an expert technician can and will have your alloy looking good-as-new in no time.

What’s the problem?

If you’re someone who takes pride in the appearance of your car, your problem is that a corroded alloy will keep you from ever being truly happy. You wouldn’t drive your car around with dirt all over the bonnet, so the same principle should be applied to your alloy wheels. Never settle for less than perfection, we say!

Do I need to fix it?

Whilst corroded alloys will often start out as a cosmetic issue if left for long periods of time the level of corrosion can often get to a point where it is no longer safe to drive on. As ever, we’d recommend you err on the side of caution when it comes to corrosion and seeks out the help of a professional technician who’ll be able to provide a prompt solution.

How does Prestige fix a corroded alloy?

As a corroded alloy falls under a cosmetic repair, here’s the process of how we’ll make our repair when booked through our mobile repair service:

  • The vehicle is jacked up safely and on the designated points and left securely on axle stands
  • The tyres are deflated and pushed back to ensure maximum access to the damaged area
  • All damage is removed ensuring the shape of the wheel is kept
  • The wheel is then re-sprayed and lacquered back to the original form
  • The wheel is then cured off under the heating system
  • Once the alloy is dry – the tyres are re-inflated to the correct manufacturer’s pressure
  • The wheels are then fitted back on to the vehicle ensuring the correct torque has been applied**

*We ask all customers to check the nuts after driving for 50km after the wheel has been re-fitted*
