Here at Prestige Wheels Ltd we are proud to have been one of the first companies within the region to offer repairs on diamond-turned alloys. We can refurbish your diamond cut and polished alloys quickly and to an amazingly high standard. With our fully in-house state of the art systems, we are able to refurbish diamond-cut wheels with the same finish within 3-5 days.
Diamond cut alloys are a specific type of polished finish. Normally found on higher spec model cars, but becoming more popular, diamond cut alloys look great although they are more prone to stone chips and kerb damage that penetrate the surface lacquer and usually leads to corrosion quite quickly.
They are identified by having the “mirror” finish, but diamond cut alloys are treated the same as polished in most cases, but can be brought back to their original state only at our main centre. In this instance there is a slightly longer time required for refurbishment than other wheels and can be variably more expensive.
Diamond cut wheels generally do not retain their finish for as long as a powder coated wheels. Diamond cut wheels look great but they are especially prone to alloy corrosion, that is why it only takes a few stone chips and a bit of water to get in for corrosion spots to occur. Any damage to the lacquer, however small, can allow water ingress which discolours the lacquer.
Diamond cutting is a very precise process and takes longer to reproduce than a powder coating refurbishment. Our specialist team would recommend no more than two repairs, as more than that and you can start to weaken the wheel. That is why we generally recommend a full refurbishment for a diamond cut wheel.
It is always best if we can see the wheel before the booking – please send photographs to info@prestigewheels.co.uk or pop into one of our depots.
